This time last year I embarked on the usual mission of losing weight only this time I had just received a Garmin Vivofit, a device that look like a sleek watch but actually counts your steps throughout the day. Not only that this magical device tells you how you sleep at night and you can even sync to a free site called myfitnesspal to count your calories. The Vivofit was all I needed to get me started along with a new pair of comfortable trainers, I started walking to and from work, (2 miles) then I found different routes which bumped it up a little more (4-6 miles) and with my daily working life I became more active meaning I could walk up to 14,000 steps a day which is about 7 miles. A better controlled diet and less sugar helped to reduce my weight from 20st to just 17.5st in just 6 months, all I needed was the weekly competition against fellow walkers using the Garmin app to spur me on, new trainers and music, lots of music.
So my advice for anyone looking to lose weight and increase their health.
